Saco River Tubing Center

2nd year!

Additional Info

Students can expect to learn flat water and moving water strokes and boat handling skills, hydrology and river reading, trip planning and logistics for downriver paddling trips, and leadership and membership strategies within a group of paddlers.  During the paddling sessions, risk management and safety topics will be shared and discussed, leading to the development of self-rescue skills in the event of a boat capsize.  Later in the week, students will learn and practice techniques to help others in distress and how to manage capsized boats, boats pinned in the river, and lead and assist rescues.   Students will learn techniques to swim rapids, use throw bags to rescue others, and to perform simple rescues.
